Before notebooks and pencils, there was sand. At 85, Indira Amma is keeping this beautiful tradition of learning alive, one letter at a time.
For the past 10 years, she has taught children Malayalam, Hindi, English and maths through Ashan Kalari, where little fingers trace letters in the sand.
With every lesson, she passes on a way of learning that has connected generations, proving that sometimes, the simplest classrooms leave the most lasting lessons.
